I have recently installed Pioneer Spirit as Coquitlam’s Centennial interpretive sculpture for the French enclave Maillardville. This sculpture is the first I have made which will pay for itself over time. Four large sails and an array of solar panels will generate power which will be sold back to BC Hydro. At night Led lighting continually changes palette  on the sail sufaces. This kinetic work also features  three listening stations. Live audio feed from an articulated parabolic microphone allows the listener to focus on the immediate surroundings, with the option of slowing down sound. Site recordings and testimonials from early pioneers will also be in the audio mix.
